O.K. so not actually a graphic novel but an original twist on the supervillian genre and as usual Wulfstan fetches us something different and very interesting to look at.

I had already reviewed the first five chapters of this book as part of a collection of short stories called “Horror, Humor, and Heroes”, and here’s what I said: “Confessions of a “D-List” Supervillain’ is a winner. Again, I get a faint feeling it’s a little like “PuppetMasters” but with Superheroes. Really nicely done world and good characterization. I want more!

Apparently I wasn’t alone, so Jim went ahead and turned that short into a novel. And, even better, Jim was nice enough to send me a copy for review.

Now sure, once you have saved the world and gotten lucky with the most beautiful woman in the world- things are going to be a tad anticlimactic.

But the humor is still there, the action scenes are great and the realistic character development is better. Yes, I said “realistic” for a fantastic Super Hero genre book.   Going far beyond angst, the characters (especially the protagonist) act & react in a realistic normal way, they have likes & dislikes, loves & hates, and even pettiness.

This is one of the best Super genre books I have read, due to the realism and humor.

Keep an eye out for this newish author, I think he’s going to be one of the rising stars in this genre.

I am giving this 5 stars out of 5.
